What is biological-augmentation?
The process of adding scientifically selected organisms into a microbial community in order to enhance that community.
Analogy: If you put a star athlete on a team, the whole team, “Ups their game.”

What makes the bacteria in BioWorx so special?
Our specifically selected Bacillus strains promote the surrounding population’s growth by producing many types of enzymes that provide food for all good bacteria. More workers = More work. These strains are are able to survive across a broad range of environments and substrates. Spore forming, which means they are highly resistant to physical and chemical influences

Which environments are suitable for your bacteria
Aerobic, Anoxic, and Anaerobic

|
Are the Bacillus strains in BioWorx SAFE?
Yes! Non-hazordous, Non-pathogenic, Environmentally safe. Bacillus are present in soil, water, airborne dust and can be found as natural flora in our intestines.

How does BioWorx reduce the odors and corrosion from hydrogen sulfide (H2S)?
To be clear, BioWorx does not mask but actually prevents the formation of H2S. This is done in a number of ways. BioWorx bacteria compete against the sulfate reducing bacteria, (SRB) that are responsible for the production of H2S.
- Our bacteria bind, assimilate, and utilize various forms of sulfur to create amino acids that are used for the production of proteins. These proteins are then used, by the microbial cell to multiply itself and to produce certain enzymes.
- BioWorx’s bacteria consumes/out competes SRB for their food sources___sulfur, sulfate, and VFA’s.
- BioWorx destroys (digest/utilize) the SRB’s anaerobic homes which harbor these unwanted bacteria___Bio-film, Sludge, FOG
- IN CLOSING BioWorx knocks down their home and takes their food. Thus, eliminating or greatly reducing the production of H2S

How do the bacteria in BioWorx reduce my FOG and Sludge?
Our Bacillus bacteria have been selected for their ability and need to consume organics found in FOG and Sludge in order to grow and reproduce. These Bacilli produce many different enzymes and bio-surfactants that breakdown FOG and Sludge in a way so the microbial cell can then utilize/absorb and completely digest this food source. Final removal is in the form of CO2 and H2O.
Our scientifically selected Bacillus consume organic waste thousands of times faster than the bacteria that are naturally occurring in the waste.

Which enzymes are produced by the BioWorx bacteria?
- General – amylase, protease, xylanase, cellulase, glucosidase, lipase, esterase, and urease
- Specialty – ligninase, laccase, arabinoxylanase, mannosidase, phytase, monooxygenases, galactosidase, and pectate lyase

Do your bacteria work in cold environments?
- The bacteria in our BioWorx RC and LS are like any naturally occurring bacteria; digestion and reproduction slow in cold water
- We offer BioWorx FRZ for these environments. These Bacillus strains were selected for their ability to perform in colder environments when water temperatures drop under 59° F / 15°C

Will BioWorx help reduce ammonia?
Yes. Not all bacteria have the genes required to utilize ammonia. Our scientifically selected strains of Bacillus actually utilize ammonia as a food source needed to mature and multiply. Please view our AMMONIA CASE STUDY.
